Should the surface become dirty or dull, clean with a scouring pad dipped in oil, and then wipe off any excess oil with a dry, clean cloth.
Please note: Oil cloths are highly flammable and should therefore be stored in airtight metal containers.
For everyday cleaning of the worktop, we recommended the use of soft soap or soap flakes (not washing up liquid). Never use cleaning products containing ammonia or scouring powder (ammonia may discolour oak). Very dirty or worn worktops can be lightly sanded. Remove dust and apply oil to the worktop. Leave to penetrate for 30 minutes (use a quality oil and follow the instructions on the packaging). Wipe of any excess oil. If the worktop has a built-in sink, we recommended oiling it more frequently, as the area around the sink is particularly prone to water exposure.
